St. Thomas’
Church of England Primary School
St. Thomas’ Lydiate Primary School in Kenyons Lane is a Church of England (Voluntary Aided) School, providing education for children from four to eleven years of age, within the caring ethos of a Christian environment.
The school has been in its present building since 1976, when the children first moved here from the old school in Southport Road, there were 63 on roll. Our numbers continue to grow and we have extended the building twice; we now have
178 children on roll.
At our school we believe that we provide a secure, friendly and happy environment for all our children. We also believe that children will be more likely to achieve their full potential in school if there is an effective partnership between home and school. We value our parents side of the partnership and welcome them into our classrooms at any time.
Our school in Lydiate provides a dedicated team of teachers, ancillary staff, Governors and PTA committee members who all work together for the benefit of the children in our care.
Further details and a school prospectus can be obtained from the Headteacher:

St.
Thomas' Church of England Pre-School
Within the grounds of St Thomas Lydiate School we have a thriving pre-school which caters for children from 2 1/2 to 4 years of age. There are morning and afternoon sessions and every child can attend up to five sessions per week. We have had a successful Ofsted Report and qualify for funding for 3 and 4 year olds.
As a pre-school group, we aim to provide stimulation to foster the development of the under fives, in a caring, secure atmosphere. Activities are provided to draw on the natural curiosity present in every child. We intend to provide quality nursery education as set out by the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines covering the six areas of learning:-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development,
Language and Literacy,
Mathematics,
Knowledge and Understanding of the World,
Physical Development,
Creative Development.
This in turn should lead to a more confident and independent child ready for life at primary school.

We have a pleasant and spacious playing field adjacent to the school which
is used extensively in the summer for sporting and social events. An
